Pilates Benefit - What else it can achieve
Pilates is a mind body focus. So is dancing and gymnastics. So here is another area that can be enhanced by Pilates. With more mind body coordination one can excel more in both fields.
Pilates teaches flow of movement and the body working as a unit. It brings maximum range of movement for each move if needed and you learn how to do that.
Let me give you an example from my experience of how Pilates can change your performance. Pilates balances the body’s muscle equilibrium and as a result whole body equilibrium. What did I get? Better natural balance in any position and ability to be balanced in a split second.
I developed strength I never knew I had. But I didn’t at the same time build muscle bulk. My muscles got leaner, longer and better shaped all around. I found out how to use my muscles in a balanced way. I knew which muscles to use and I found the deeper inner core muscles that provide so much in stability and strength for the whole body. This means those outer muscles don’t have to work so much.
Yes you heard it, you don’t have to work so hard. It is less effort yet you can do more. Is it magic? In a way yes. It seems like it but it is very simple.
So dancing and gymnastics have different purposes but many times a similar route to that purpose. Don’t those gymnastics routines sometimes look like a dance? Doesn’t that dancers high leg and arched back look very gymnastic? Different end results but definitely an overlap in there.
